The Year 4s enjoyed a very different camping experience when they went on a rather wet and muddy three day residential trip in the woods of Cornbury Park. The outdoor course was organized by Mr Phillips and was run by the Bushcraft Company who specialise in teaching children survival skills.
During their stay the children cooked their own meals, built traps, administered First Aid, built and slept in shelters, and learnt how to build and light fires for survival and cooking. The study of stealth and camouflage techniques led to a number of day exercises during which the children used tracking and navigation skills to orientate themselves. Although it was designed very much as an “out of your comfort zone” experience, the children relished the challenges under the safe and expert guidance of the Bushcraft staff
