On Thursday 17th June, 31 reception children from the Junior School visited the Stibbington Centre for a ‘Snail Trail’ day. In the morning the children learnt about Giant African Land Snails and were able to observe them closely before making a collage picture of a snail, in groups, and thinking of words to describe the snails.
The children then went into the grounds of the activity centre to look for items in the environment that a snail might like to eat. They then went pond dipping for water snails and other ‘minibeasts’.
After lunch, and a play in the lovely grounds, the children took part in a drama session based on the book, ‘Snail Trail’ before making a clay snail which they took home as a reminder of a super day.
