SJS complete another charitable term
Stamford Junior School ended 2012 on a charitable note as their autumn term fundraising activities raised nearly £2,500. Everyone at the school played their part in raising funds for charities including; The Children’s Society and Samaritans Purse.
The charity events began with the ‘Love in a Box’ appeal for Samaritans Purse. Children were encouraged to gather various items to make up Christmas shoeboxes to send to disadvantaged children in the Ukraine. In all, 165 boxes were generously donated. In November, the Junior School and Earlybird Nursery continued this success raising £690 for Children in Need by wearing their pyjamas to school.
The term ended with a bang as the fabulous KS1 Nativity ‘Stargazers’ raised £470 which was shared between the Baby Pack Project and Stamford Food Bank. Then SJS continued to spread the Christmas joy as Christingle raised a huge sum of £1,106 for The Children’s Society.
Fiona Sampson, Charities Co-ordinator at Stamford Junior School said, “I would like to thank everyone involved for helping us to raise a superb £2,350 so far this academic year. I know that, alongside working hard, the children (and parents!) have had a good deal of fun, whilst contributing towards these worthwhile causes.”
