Choir Performs at the Barbican Concert Hall
Last term, the Stamford Junior School Choir submitted a CD to the judges of the Barnardo’s National Children’s Choir Competition, following this they were selected to appear in the final of the competition at London’s Barbican Concert Hall.
The choir travelled by coach and were accompanied by Mr McIlrae and Mrs Roberts. In the evening they sang in front of their families and a large audience in the concert hall, along with the other finalists. The tone and intonation of the SJS Choir was excellent and they all looked very smart.
Although they did not win, the children were a credit to Stamford Junior School; they had great fun and learned a great deal about singing and performing on the London stage.
Mrs Roberts, Music Teacher at Stamford Junior School, said; “I was very proud of our choir. I believe we are one of the best Junior School choirs in the country”.
