Army Cadets Enjoy Beckingham Camp

A number of army cadets from the Stamford Endowed Schools attended their annual camp at Beckingham, this summer. They learnt and practised skills ranging from sailing and windsurfing on Rutland Water to more military based activities including live firing the cadet rifle, racing over an obstacle course, and completing a 24hr tactical exercise. Led by Captains Rupert Dexter and Mike Holdsworth, the weeklong experience was of tremendous value to the cadets in terms of character building, teamwork, leadership and personal administration. Michael McLaughlin, who was the head cadet, has now attended two such camps and he said: “This was the best camp so far and I would encourage others to go in future years.”
