Successful Chess Weekend
The Stamford Junior School U11 Chess Team did a great job at the EPSCA competition at the weekend. Overall, they were placed 14th, gaining a bronze level and narrowly missing silver by just ½ point. Notably, everyone won at least two games; Sailesh Sitaram won all his games and James Leetch managed a ‘draw’ against an England player.
There was also plenty of fresh air, including a cricket game on the breezy beach at Brean against Magdalen College School from Oxford, who are due to include SJS in their tour in June.
Thank you to Mr Dan Leetch and Mr John Hawkins for supporting us all so well throughout the trip, and to all the team for another memorable weekend of chess and good company.
