Pupils face local schools in Maths challenge
While other Stamford Junior School children enjoyed the first days of their summer holiday, four pupils set off to Peterborough for a Maths competition. Thirty three local primary schools took part in a day of Maths challenges designed to apply their Maths skills, particularly their calculation speed, application of their Maths knowledge and team work. It was a closely fought event and although their performance in the relay, when the atmosphere was electric, was excellent the team was not placed in the first three but agreed that they had all enjoyed a stimulating day.
The team included Barnaby Shand (Year 6), who gained a Gold Certificate in the National Junior Maths Challenge, designed for pupils in Years 7 and 8, Sujay Kamath (Year 6), Matthew Smith and Ben Tunstall both Year 5.
