Students design set for local theatre production
Two Stamford High School students, Anna Hindmarch (Y10) and Lizzie Edwards-Morris (Y12), spent last term designing part of a set for a local theatre company. During Mrs Walkin’s Theatre Design course, the girls were given a live project by Cottesmore Village Players, to design and create three backcloths for their upcoming pantomime, Peter Pan.
Lizzie started the project back in September producing some fantastic designs and undertaking meetings with the pantomime director to discuss their requirements. Lizzie then undertook the painting of one entire scene on a 4’ x 3’ cloth. Anna joined later in the term and both students spent Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings on the project, working in a very cold gym at Stamford School.
The pantomime director, Mrs Burnett, is thrilled with the final designs and has thanked the students for all their hard work. Well done girls!
The Cottesmore Village Players Peter Pan pantomime starts on Thursday 30th January at Market Overton village hall.
