Students through to ESU Regional Final
Year 13 Stamford School debating captains, Matthew Kew and Joseph Begley, have reached the regional finals of the English-Speaking Union Schools’ Debating competition, to be held in late February. The boys fought off stiff competition from five other Lincolnshire schools during the second round of the competition, held at Lincoln Minster School. Placed first out of six schools in the round, the boys prepared a coherent and structured case in opposition to a very tough motion: “This house would cap the pay of teachers and medical health professionals working in the private sector to a level comparable to that of the public sector”. Matthew and Joseph have been debating since Year 9 and now have a chance of competing in the national finals if they are successful in the next round.
