Year 9 students visit WW1 Battlefields
Over the Easter break the Stamford School History department embarked on their annual Battlefields tour taking 52 Year 9 boys with them. The group visited the sites of Tyne Cot, Langemark, Vimy Ridge, Beaumont Hamel, Messines, amongst others and laid a wreath on the grave of former Stamford School Head Boy, Oswald Elliott. This year was especially poignant for the students being the 100 year commemoration of WW1.
Head of History, Dan Stamp, said: “With great weather and superb behaviour from the boys it was certainly a memorable trip. Look out for the forthcoming publication from Mrs Colley on all the boys from Stamford School who gave their lives in the Great War.”
