Victory in Country Life Shooting Competition
The Stamford Endowed Schools shooting team, made up of 12 senior school pupils, have won the Country Life Small Bore Competition for the third year running. SES entered an A and B team each consisting of 5 firers and a non-shooting member who guides the firers onto targets.
117 teams entered the competition from across the country and the SES A Team won by a huge margin of 69 points. The SES B Team came second, 34 points ahead of Fettes College. As well as being awarded first and second places, seven out of the ten top shooters nationally were from SES and Anna Pywell achieved the top shot in the country, with a maximum score of 95.
Shooting Team Coach, Steve Denham, said: “Well done to both teams for their fantastic achievement. What’s most impressive is that the A team had 3 firers in the top 5 shots in the Country and 1 firer from the B Team was also in the top 5. Congratulations!”
