Science Week Goes Off with a Bang
Science Week 2014 at Stamford Junior School went off with a bang as pupils from all year groups took part in many science based activities. The theme was ‘Kitchen Chemistry’ and, thanks to the Junior School’s PA, there was an exciting themed assembly and workshops with a Scientist.
The pupils took part in practical investigations using household ingredients and got to grips with the chemical reactions behind them, enjoying some messy and memorable learning. To name but a few activities; the Reception children kindly dyed some clothes for the little elves that live down at the Stables whilst the Year 5s made some fake blood to try and trick the school nurse!
Around 30 children in Key Stage 2 have now completed their CREST Megastar Science Award, as part of the programme of Saturday sessions at the Junior School and in class. A new programme of CREST will begin in September.
