Year 8 Inspired by Elizabeth I Talk
On Friday 23rd May the entire Year 8 cohort from both Stamford School and Stamford High School enjoyed a trip over to the Great Hall at Burghley House. Once there the prominent historian Lesley Smith gave a fascinating insight into the times of Elizabeth I. The lecture tied in perfectly with the Year 8 history course, most notably the sections with Elizabeth and her dealings with Mary, Queen of Scots, the Spanish Armada and of course the trouble she had with her older sister Bloody Mary.
In full costume and make up of Queen Elizabeth I, Lesley Smith was both entertaining and educational as she ‘knighted’ one of the boys who impressed her with his questions.
