Students Put Their French Skills to the Test
26 students from the Stamford Endowed Schools visited the Maison Clairefontaine, Meluzien Residential Centre in the heart of the Burgundy in July. They attended fun, structured French lessons in ability groups and tried varied activities including baking, archery and mosaic-making in the target language. The students questioned tourists and locals during a town trail visit to Vézelay and shopped for local produce in the neighbouring market town, producing some culinary creations for lunch. Despite the unseasonal rain and chilly conditions everyone enjoyed a positive experience both linguistically and socially. The French Department are now looking forward to the trip next summer and would highly recommend this experience to all in Years 8 and 9.
