The newly formed team play in a local independent schools league consisting of Stamford, Oundle, Oakham and Uppingham schools, each entering two teams. The Stamford Endowed School’s team ranges from 14-18 year olds, and is captained by James Frost and Tweedie Tse. The group have been training under Stamford School teacher Lorna Blissett, as well as Gordon Young who has both played for and coached England badminton teams, as well as previously playing for the armed forces.

Despite never playing in this format before the team has won most of their matches throughout the term, with standout performances from many individuals as well as a great doubles team with twins Tweedie and Tessie Tse.

Coach and teacher, Lorna Blissett, is extremely happy with the success of the team so early on in the new league format, “There has been a lovely team spirit, and it’s great to have boys and girls playing together in teams at last!”
