U14 Hockey Team are County Runners Up

 U14 hockey runners upStamford High School’s U14 hockey team attended the Lincolnshire county hockey tournament just before half term, and finished as runners up.

The team played Queen Elizabeth School, Gainsborough, in their first match, beating them 1-0 in a closely fought game. The next game saw the girls up against Lincoln Minster where they were also victorious whilst Spalding managed to hold onto two wins too. The deciding match was between SHS and Spalding to determine who would go through as county winners. Spalding had a quick and agile forward line and managed to sneak in three goals against Stamford’s one, crowning Spalding county champions and SHS runners up. The Stamford High School team will now go on to represent Lincolnshire at the East Regional tournament held on Thursday 13th November at the University of East Anglia, Norwich.

Head of P.E. at Stamford High School, Mrs H. Cannie, said: “I was thrilled with the team’s success and very happy with the standard of hockey played.”
