Star Cricketer Becomes New Team Captain
Year 8 Stamford High School pupil, Lauren Brownlie, has been appointed as the new captain for Huntingdon’s U13 Girls Cricket Team.
Lauren started playing cricket at the age of seven at her local club in Nassington. She went on to play for the boys U11 and U13 teams, and started playing for the men's 1st and 2nd teams towards the end of last season. Lauren has also started her second season as an all-rounder for Huntingdonshire, where she trains every Sunday at The Peterborough School, and she was asked to begin her role as captain of the U13s team in November. Her success has given her the opportunity to train with Huntingdon’s U15s. In the future, Lauren hopes to follow in the footsteps of England Ladies Captain, Charlotte Edwards.
Lucy Hornby, Head of Sport at Stamford High School, said: ‘Lauren is clearly going places with her cricket and it’s wonderful that we have such a superb young player being recognised in the county set up; we wish Lauren all the best for her first game as Captain of the Hunts U13’s.’
