1st VII Impress at The Perse Tournament
Stamford High School’s 1st VII Netball team have had a strong start to the season after attending a pre-season camp run by England Netball star Tamsin Greenway. Following on from this training camp, the SHS team travelled to The Perse School to play in the annual pre-season tournament. Having won the tournament last year, the pressure was on for SHS to defend their title. The SHS team started well defeating Ipswich and Uppingham in their first two games. Repton put up a strong fight in the third clinching a win. Framlingham also proved to be a difficult team to beat as they managed to close the gap on Stamford’s lead, finishing 8-8. With two frustrating games behind them, SHS played far better against Kimbolton, winning 6-2.
The SHS team proved their strength in the final two games against Perse and Oundle, finishing a pleasing 4th overall.
Head of Games at Stamford High School, Heidi Cannie, said: “This was a great tournament and good practice ahead of the fast approaching regional tournament at the end of January.”
