Hockey Season begins for Stamford School

After the first week back of term, on Saturday 10th January, Stamford School’s hockey teams were straight back into a full day of coaching and competition at home.

The day started out with Stamford Juniors and Kimbolton heading up to the AstroTurf to enjoy a coaching session with current junior internationals, Ben Mackey and Sam Hatherley. After a short coaching session, the two schools battled out a very competitive match demonstrating some of their newly acquired skills.

Throughout the day, all of the School’s age groups for hockey were invited to the coaching sessions learning new skills to implement into their upcoming hockey season. The coaching was of a very high level and the boys benefitted from different approaches and delivery from both Ben and Sam.

The day concluded with a first team fixture versus Uppingham School. The boys played exceptionally well and worked the ball into the net four times to put to bed a competitive Uppingham side with the final result 4 - 1. This will put the boys in good stead with the first round of the National Cup right around the corner.
