History Teacher Joins National Archives Project
Head of History at Stamford High School, Hannah Grant, spent half term working at the National Archives on an international project called “When We Were British.”
Hannah was recruited onto the programme as an instructional coach and worked with a group of American teachers. The interdisciplinary project sponsored by the North Carolina and Virginia Geographic Alliances, brought together historians, geographers and archivists to better understand the origins of America through research and curriculum design. Hannah and her team spent the week searching through a very wide range of documents, discovering and selecting those most useful.
The project runs until August and Hannah will be continuing to collaborate with American colleagues on the development of specific classroom resources to do with the early American colonies in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
