Fantastic Result for Pupils in National Cross Country Competition

 cross country SJS, malvern collegeAfter weekly training sessions since September, 12 Year 6 pupils were selected to represent Stamford Junior School at the National Prep Schools Cross Country Championships at Malvern College. With over 60 schools from all over the country and just under 400 runners the competition was tough.

In the U11 girls race Sophie Reeves gained a valuable advantage from a fantastic start which allowed her to stay in contention through to finish 14th, closely behind her was Olivia Lee finishing 15th.

In the U11s boys race Sam Hughes started well and used his strength and stamina up hill to fight his way through the field and with a strong finish came 11th overall.

All of the children battled through the mud and over streams, the girl’s team finished a very respectable 13th and the boys equally respectable in 18th overall.

U11 Boys: Sam Hughes, Archie Dickie-Meadows, Robert Williams, Roddy Mountain, Rafa Parker-Humby and Finn Bonner
