Students Journey to Italy for Ski Trip
After a busy end to term, 25 girls left Stamford High School to travel to the Aosta Valley for the annual lower school ski trip. The students journeyed across the channel by ferry and through France into Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel.
The trip rep Myers met the students in La Thuile where they were fitted with ski boots and skis. After an orientation around the resort the students had an early night ahead of their first ski lessons on the Monday morning.
The first three days were extremely windy and much of the mountain was restricted or closed so the girls were limited to skiing on only a few runs. The beginners progressed well and by day four were already skiing the blue and red runs. Friday saw the sun break through the clouds and a chance for the top two groups to ski across to La Rossiere in France.
The evenings consisted of various après ski activities including karaoke, the SHS fashion show, pizza night and a presentation evening with the instructors.
Heidi Cannie, Head of PE at Stamford High School, said: “Thankfully all 25 girls travelled home in one piece having thoroughly enjoyed a week's skiing. Special thanks to Miss Smith, Miss Higgins and Miss Dixon who accompanied the trip and ensured everyone had a great time.”
