SES Take Part in French Exchange
Stamford Endowed Schools renewed their acquaintance with the town of Fontainebleau near Paris this year, having established links with the lycée St Aspaïs in 2006. This year, the school was fortunate to have established links with the collège as well, and were therefore able to take a group of Y10 and sixth form students to the collège and lycée respectively.
The group travelled by rail and the students spent the first weekend with their host families. During the week, time was shared between time in the French schools and outings to places of interest such as the Palace of Versailles and Paris monuments.
The Stamford Endowed Schools look forward to welcoming the Y10 French students to Stamford on 4th May. No doubt they will receive a warm welcome from their Stamford host families, just as the French sixth form students did when they first visited Stamford in February.
Head of French at Stamford High School, Mrs C Vie said: “The students benefitted enormously in terms of the progress they made in their spoken French, as well as their listening skills and also thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying with a French family. There is no better way to become immersed in the French language and lifestyle.”
