Tennis Players Head to Spain for Pre-Season Camp
Over the Easter Break, Tennis players from Stamford High School travelled to Spain to practice before the start of the season back home.
After an early start, the girls got to their first coaching session during the afternoon on arrival day. The Spanish coaches welcomed the girls onto the courts and they were soon put through their paces.
The SHS girls worked incredibly hard throughout their stay and despite some very hot weather and early morning fitness sessions, energy levels remained high. They were able to put everything they had learnt into practice during some matches against Trent on the Friday which produced some excellent wins and great experiences for all.
The students managed to fit in some ice cream stops and recovery during the week, whilst enjoying activities on the beach such as beach volley ball, mega ball activities, body boarding and beach rounder's.
They managed one more coaching session on the day of departure, with an opportunity to thank the coaches for their help and support throughout the week. A quick turn around and one last visit to the beach, enabled the girls to relax before they headed back to Stamford.
Sports teacher at SHS, Miss M Higgins said; “With a lot of time spent on the courts during the week each individual made superb progress and made sure they were fully prepared for the season ahead on return to SHS. A very well done to all girls who attended the trip for their hard work and fantastic performances.”
