Old Stamfordians Meet SES Economics Students
On Wednesday 24 June 2015, as part of a Sixth Form economics trip to London, a group of over 30 SES Economics students visited the Adam Smith Institute, the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Social Market Foundation.
At the end of the day the students had dinner with 11 Old Stamfordians and two past parents, who all worked in the City or had an economics or finance background. The event was sponsored by the SES Foundation and provided a unique opportunity for SES students to meet with a diverse set of experts – all with a Stamford background. The guests included Sir David Arculus, Chairman of Energy UK, Ros Price, Chief Investment Strategist at 7IM, James Chew, Group Head of Regulatory Policy at HSBC Holdings Plc, and many more. They were all at different phases in their careers, with some undergraduates and recent graduates in attendance also, and each one had taken a different route to success. The students were able to hear about their career paths, discuss their experiences and ask questions. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to introduce current pupils to the Stamford alumni network and the Foundation hopes to run similar events in the future for students and alumni in other fields.
