Impressive Medal Haul at Gymnastics Competition
Stamford Endowed Schools produced a strong performance as hosts of the Independent Schools Gymnastics Association 2 piece championship over the 3rd and 4th October, as 2 teams won their respective age groups and multiple individual medals were won.
The event although a competition in its own merit, acts as a qualifying process to the Premier 5 piece championship in March. Saturday 3rd saw the juniors compete, with the senior’s event taking place on Sunday 4th.
The Stamford Endowed Schools entered 5 teams at the competition, competing at Under 9, U10, U11, U13 and Over 13 levels. The U11 team were successfully crowned 2 piece champions after winning their respective age category. That team consisted of 3 individual medallists; Daisy Fox achieving 2nd, Nicole Doody-Velasquez coming 3rd and Elysée Mordel attaining 4th.
Isabella Plant competed exceptionally well to finish in 2nd place individually, with her U13 age group unlucky to miss out on a collective medal. Despite finishing outside of the medal positions the U9 and U10’s teams took the opportunity to complete new vaults and showed encouraging improvements. The over 13’s team built upon their strong start to secure a dominant victory in their age category with Lottie Smith achieving 1st place in the individual event.
