Students Get Olympians "Tips from the Top"
Stamford’s finest had their horizons broadened at the weekend with a visit from Olympian Alistair Wilson. Alistair represented England and GB Hockey teams over 180 times in a 9 year period at the top of the game. He went to two World Cups and two Olympic Games, also wining a European Cup Gold in 2011. He gave a fantastic and insightful lecture to all the sports scholars on diet, training and match preparation before putting the under 14 squads through their paces on the astro turf.
Head of Hockey at Stamford School Mr Jack Cropper was pleased with the session; “Its always great to hear from people who have been successful at the very top of their game. All those lessons on diet, training etc can be applied across a whole range of sports. Hopefully the boys will take on the advice and use it to help improve their performance.”
