Pupils Victorious in Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz
Thursday 15th October saw Stamford School’s ‘A Team’ emerge triumphant from the Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz, which featured three other local schools and was hosted at Stamford School.
The Geographical Association’s Lincoln branch sent their President to ask the questions for the eight hotly contested rounds. Attending teams from Welland Academy, Deepings School and Spalding Grammar School consisted of Year 10 and 11 pupils.
Stamford School’s ‘A Team’, consisting of Year 9 pupils Tomas Morrison, Hugh Dalyrimple and Barnaby Shand, won the competition and each received a large atlas, presented in the school assembly as their prize. The event proved to be a huge success, with members of the visiting schools highly complimentary and commenting that they hope it can continue to be held in the local area in the future.
The quiz was only made possible through the special efforts of staff and the prefect geographers, who assisted with the logistics and marking of the event.
Head of Geography at Stamford School, Richard Brewster, said “The other schools brought Year 10/11 students for their teams, which showed how impressive Barnaby, Tomas and Hugh were in winning a tough event.”
