New Head Appointed at Stamford School
Mr Nick Gallop has been appointed as the new Head of Stamford School where he will take over from Mr Will Phelan, the Principal-elect, from September 2016.
Mr Gallop is a politics teacher and has an impressive experience in Independent Schools. For the last 4 years he has been Assistant Head and Head of Sixth Form at Portsmouth Grammar School where he was responsible for the creation of a new Sixth Form Centre and raising the standards of provision for the oldest students in the school. Prior to this he taught at Wellington College where he was Head of Department and later a boarding Housemaster.
His first promotion post was Head of Department at Loughborough Grammar School, an all-boys’ school, so he has experience of both single gender and co-ed educational schools which is ideal for a Head of Stamford School. Mr Gallop has coached 1st XV rugby and has written a number of articles for journals about education.
Mr Gallop is married with two young children. He was educated at Repton School and Durham University and also has an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management. The Governors see him as a natural successor for Mr Phelan and he will build on the strong foundations which have been strengthened in recent years.
