Stamford School U15’s Avenge Recent Defeat

Stamford U15 rugbyJust three weeks after losing their home fixture to Oakham School, Stamford School’s U15A side produced a fantastic second half defensive display to knock their local opponents out of the NatWest Vase.

Great work from Cocozza and Smye up front got Stamford on the front foot and quality handling from Archie Offer and Bradley Gay saw winger Chester Hooper scamper clear of his man to dot down under the sticks.

Minutes later a concerted period of pressure saw a turnover and again Hooper was the beneficiary sliding over the line.

The Oakham half backs controlled territory well and continued to make ground with their forwards. The away side managed to get on the scoreboard with seven minutes to go after scoring their first try, but the resulting conversion hit the post.

The visitors threw everything at Stamford but to no avail. With the last play of the game some tremendous tackling caused a turnover, Will Leech then pounced on the loose ball and splashed over to cap off a 19-5 victory.
