Flautist Lisa Nelsen Performs at SES
Thursday 22nd January 2016 saw internationally renowned flautist Lisa Nelsen visit Stamford Endowed Schools to work with students and perform a spectacular evening concert.
Lisa Nelsen is recognised across many countries for her versatility as a flute soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, educator and mentor in performance practices. Originally from Canada, Lisa now lives in the UK and gives concerts and masterclasses across the UK, Canada, the United States and Hong Kong.
Throughout the afternoon Lisa performed a ‘flute masterclass’ with SES’s flute musicians. She helped students on an individual basis, listening to each pupils work before giving them advice and new learning techniques to trial.
In the evening Lisa then performed some of her very favourite musical pieces with the backdrop of pianist, Paul Turner. Lisa performed such pieces as; Sonata in Eb Major (Bach), Syrinx (Debussy) and Bodacious Funktitude (Mower).
SES Director of Music, Giles Turner, said; “The SES music department are delighted to welcome acclaimed flautist Lisa Nelsen for both a flute masterclass and evenings concert. Lisa has worked all over the world and her vast array of expertise will no doubt have been of huge help to our senior flautists, with who she worked with throughout the afternoon.”
