High School Host Junior Chef Competition

SHS Host Rotary Young Chef CompetitionThe Home Economics Department at Stamford High School hosted the annual Rotary Club Junior Chef competition on the evening of 23rd November 2010. The task was to plan, prepare, cook and serve a healthy two course meal for two people using as many local and seasonal ingredients as possible, for under £10. There were seven entrants from the local area including four girls from SHS and three from QE. The girls were Charlie Cozens Y10, Katie Lancaster Y11, Molly Warren Y11 and Zoe Rawnsley Y12. They had 30 minutes preparation time and 1 ½ hours of cooking before the judging. The judge tasted all the food and gave feedback to the contestants who had worked incredibly hard in time pressured conditions. SHS scooped two of the prizes. Molly Warren came third and Katie Lancaster came first and will compete in the district semi-finals in January. We wish her the best of luck.
