Junior School Pupils Race to Victory in F1 Challenge
On Monday the Midlands Regional Final of the F1 in Primary Schools Challenge was held at Stamford High School and the three SJS teams finished first, second and third.
This exciting education initiative provides teams of KS2 pupils the opportunity to enter a real-life competition where they follow the same processes Formula One teams’ use, from their initial business plan through to their car design. They use computer aided design (CAD) software and 3D printers to design mini Formula 1 cars which they then race on a 20m long race track.
In addition to this, each team has the opportunity to share their team brand, portfolio and pit stop display with the judges. Three teams; Pounce, Nitro and MIST represented Stamford Junior School. They performed fantastically to finish in first (NITRO), second (POUNCE) and third places (MIST) overall.
In addition the teams took home certificates for best portfolio and pit display, fastest and best engineered car and best verbal presentation.
Mrs Quare, Year 6 Teacher of Stamford Junior School explained said; “A great day was had by all and the judges were very impressed with the high standard of work”.
