Climbing Club Tackle Birchen Edge
Over the weekend of 17th and 18th September a group of Stamford Endowed Schools’ students honed their climbing skills by taking on one of the Peak District’s most famous rock faces, Birchen Edge.
Birchen Edge a rock face in the Peak District, is extremely popular with walkers. As most of the climbing routes are in the lower grades of severity it also acts as many novice climbers route of choice. In total 11 boys and girls –from Years 8-12- took part in the climb.
Stamford Endowed Schools’ Director of Outdoor Education, Mr Edward Smith said, “The students had a great time, despite finding the outdoor climbing a bit difficult as there are no coloured holds to grab on to. The weather was excellent the whole day too!”
