Olympic Gold Medallist to Lecture at SES
Stamford Endowed Schools are delighted to announce that Shona McCallin, part of the GB Gold Medal winning Hockey team, will be performing a lecture on Monday 14th November 2016 about her Olympic experience.
After her parents got her started playing hockey at 6 to try and get rid of energy, hockey's long been a part of Shona's life. Playing football to an academy standard until she was 14, Shona had to make a choice between a football and a hockey career, and since then she's made a great difference to her hockey teams.
She captained the England U21s to fourth place at the Junior World Cup in Monchengladbach, Germany, in 2013. Fluent in Dutch, Shona lived in Holland for three and a half years playing hockey for MOP and studying International Business at Tilburg University.
Since her debut she has adapted to international hockey with aplomb with the highlight being her role in the Euro Hockey Championships gold medal in 2015, followed up with another gold medal, this time at her first Olympic Games in Rio.
Shona will be visiting Stamford Endowed Schools on Monday 14th November. She will be leading training sessions in the afternoon followed by an evening talk about her Rio experience equipped with her Olympic Gold Medal. Afterwards there will be autograph/photo opportunities.
