Melting, Bending and Breaking the Rules
Acclaimed artist Alex Chinneck, who spoke to art students in a previous visit to the Schools, will present his ‘Melting, bending and breaking the rules’ lecture on Friday 20 January at 7pm.
Here he will discuss his past and future projects in addition to sharing the secrets behind their creation. Alex specialises in creating architectural works which feature optical illusions.
Recently in London’s Kings Cross he created the illusion of a Christmas tree seemingly frozen inside a giant ice cube.
Another of Alex’s most memorable works ‘From the Knees of my Nose to the Belly of my Toes’, saw the frontage of a derelict house designed so it slumped down in to the front garden leaving the upper levels of the house exposed.
Last year Chinneck also created an illusion where a section of Covent Garden’s historic market place appeared to be floating in mid-air having cracked away from its base.
Tickets are free of charge but must be booked here.
