Victory in Real Business Challenge Regional Final
Tuesday 7th February saw seven Year 10 boys take part in the East Midlands final of Coca Cola's Real Business Challenge with the team brilliantly winning the regional final.
The team were selected as one of ten top teams in the region from the first round. They worked alongside a business mentor and had a new challenge to complete; it involved a variety of tasks, including scripting and editing a radio advertisement and presenting their fundraising initiative to a panel of business representatives, one of whom is the U.K. sales director of Coca Cola.
The students worked incredibly well together, performing each task superbly to meet every given deadline. The team’s victory means they have now qualified for final judging at the National Final. The next stage is slightly different to previous years; there will be a national final, though the boys will not travel to London for this. Instead, their work will be submitted, along with all the regional champions, to a final judging panel who will decide on the National Champion in March.
Business teacher Amy Halliday was thrilled for the students, “A member of the judging panel took the time to tell me that not only were they by far the best group at presenting, but they were also the only group that fully answered the brief, utilising the time and resources given to them better than any other team, so they won by a clear margin. Their business mentor also commented on how impressed she was by them throughout the process; she said they were professional in taking notes and organising themselves, so much so that she had very little input in the final result. They wowed everybody.”
