More Silverware for Stamford School Rugby

Stamford rugby sevens Stamford School Senior 7s squad continued their excellent season picking up their 2nd title in three weeks.

They battled through the torrential rain at the Newark Sevens only to narrowly fall short with a touch of inexperience in tough conditions. Learning from their mistakes they went one better going unbeaten to claim victories over Culford, Norwich, Wisbech, Uppingham in the semis and Wellingborough in the final.

Days later in brilliant sunshine they defeated Langley, Bedford Modern, Loughborough and Oakham in the semi to reach another final. Despite some tense moments at 21-17 they hung on and skipper James Peachey sprinted under the sticks at the final whistle. The whole squad pitched in but star man over the tournaments was Tom Charsley Evans.

Head Coach David Laventure was full of praise for his troops: "The lads should be really chuffed, it's often very difficult to make the jump from XVs to 7s and the guys have worked very hard for each other - credit where credit is due!"
