Students Raise Funds with Annual Charity Walk
On Tuesday 4th July approximately 300 Stamford School students participated in the annual charity walk from Stamford to Rutland Water, raising funds and support for the Matt Hampson Foundation.
Inspired by Stamford Endowed Schools’ pupils Seb Goold and George Robinson, the students are hoping to raise significant funds for the Foundation, which offers support to youngsters injured during sporting activities. Louis Deacon, Commercial Director of the Foundation, and former England and Leicester Tigers player, visited the school on the day of the walk to meet and encourage pupils whilst explain the significance of the Foundation’s work.
Stamford School Charity Co-ordinator said;
“The sponsored walk is a great event for bringing the SES community together at the end of the year. Forming part of our collective goal of service to others, this particular sponsored walk supports young people who have been seriously injured through sport. We should highlight what Matt Hampson himself has said of the young people who are supported by the Foundation: ‘They all have different stories to tell… they share one thing in common; a strength of character to overcome adversity and a desire to Get Busy Living’. The camaraderie shown during the walk by pupils and staff as well as by our parents’ association, FOSS, has been fantastic.”
