Space Centre Visit

SJS Pupils Prepare for Space MissionOn the same day as the first ever probe reached Mercury, an intrepid group of year 5 children visited the Leicester Space Centre and undertook their chosen roles of Communication Officer, Navigator or Medical Technician in Mission control or in the Space Station of the Challenger Centre. Problem solving tasks were completed brilliantly and as a consequence of high level teamwork skills, the children successfully launched a probe to rendezvous with an unknown Comet, which they subsequently named ‘Comet SJS’.

In addition, the children also visited the Space Centre itself, where they learnt more about the developments in rocket design, explored the deeper parts of space, showed their knowledge of the solar system in the interactive theatre and courageously volunteered for a simulation ride to one of Jupiter’s moons.
