On Thursday March 25th, the Y5 and 6 Stamford Junior School choir took part in two categories of the Peterborough Music Festival. They competed in the ‘Junior Choirs Y3-6’, where they sang the set song ‘Foggy Birthday Shuffle’ by Hatfield. Despite facing six other local school choirs, the Stamford choir won the Committee Shield with Distinction.

The second category was the ‘Under 13 Choirs’, in which they sang their own-choice two-part song, ‘Any dream will do’, by Lloyd Webber. Competing against three other schools in this category, the Junior School won the EM Hartley Cup with Distinction.

Conductor Mrs Janet Roberts said, “The adjudicator complimented the children on their good tone and clear words. They sang expressively with effective dynamics and their efforts were rewarded by winning the shield and cup.”
