Scots Guards Charity Concert Tonight
Date: Thursday 6th October
Location: Stamford School Hall
On Thursday 6th October, the Regimental Band of the Scots Guards is visiting Stamford to perform a charity concert alongside talented Stamford Endowed Schools musicians in the Stamford School Hall in aid of Help the Heroes and the Royal British Legion.
Arriving in Stamford immediately following their tour of Switzerland, the Scots Guard’s normal ceremonial duties include the Changing of the Guard Parade at Buckingham Palace. Keen eyed TV viewers will have seen the band already this summer; playing at the FA Cup Final, the Obama Presidential visit and Trooping the Colour, as well as at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
The balanced programme of music on the evening of the concert promises to be truly outstanding and entertaining. As well as the traditional military music and fanfares, film fans will be delighted to hear music from ‘Star Wars’ and ‘James Bond’. In a different mood there will be ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘Scotland the Brave’, ‘Finlandia’ and ‘Crown Imperial’.
Event organiser George Woolf said “It is a great honour for Stamford to be visited by such an outstanding, nationally acclaimed band whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.” This is a great opportunity for the Schools’ musicians- whose school band are the only to feature on the BBC Radio 2 programme ‘Listen to the Band’ and have previously appeared on ‘Blue Peter’- to perform alongside such a prestigious band and for both students and the Stamford community to see the band perform live.
This event is open to all and tickets are available now for just £5 from the Stamford Endowed Schools Shop on St Paul’s Street, Adnams Wine and Cellar Shop on St Mary’s Passage in Stamford and Rasells Nursery Shop in Little Bytham.
