Rutland Junior Sailor of Year Award
Stamford High School student Jess Flint has won the Rutland Junior Sailor of Year award. There is a lot of competition for this award as Rutland produces many excellent junior and youth sailors.
Jess has been focussed on the 29er performance skiff boat which is an Olympic pathway boat has been sailing with former Stamford School pupil James Leetch.Earlier this year they won the Silver fleet at the Youth Nationals and they were placed second or third at mixed crew events over 6 National meetings throughout the year, then winning an overall 3rd place in the despite missing two events. Jess has was then selected to join the National Class Squad in September as well as the Welsh National Squad consisting of only 5 boats.
Sailing alongside other students from Stamford Endowed Schools Jess also took part in the International Tall Ships Race in which they came 8th following a week-long day and night race.
