County Selection for SHS Netball Stars
A number of talented netball players from Stamford High School have received county and regional level recognition.
Molly Atkinson, Joanna Crombie and Charlotte Crane (all Year 11) and Phoebe Archer (Year 10) have been chosen to attend the Lincolnshire County Academy (U16) while Honor Monro-Hall and Emma Barnard (Year 9) will play at the Lincolnshire Satellite Academy (U14) with Charlotte Crombie (Year 8) selected as a reserve. Special commendation also goes to Anastasia Pywell (Year 11) who has been chosen for regional trials.
The Lincolnshire Netball Academies form part of the England Netball Excel pathway and are the first step towards playing for England. Schools and clubs across Lincolnshire are allowed to nominate a limited number of players to try out for the academies; therefore the girls competed against the best netball players in Lincolnshire for their academy places. The academies are for players who are of a very high netball standard and they will receive performance enhancing training from quality coaches. The girls will be hoping to follow in Anastasia Pywell’s footsteps as they will have the chance to be seen by a regional coach.
PE teacher Jess Fowler is very proud of the girls’ achievements commenting “Around 20 girls were selected in the U14 and U16 categories from the whole county based on their skills, mental attitude and concentration so the girls have done extremely well to be selected.”
