SJS Win Annual Grudge Gala

The SJS swimming team at the Leciester Grammar GalaThe yearly grudge gala against Kimbolton School earlier this term was a resounding success, with Stamford Junior School winning 143 points to Kimbolton’s 100.

All 26 swimmers, from Years Four – Six, performed magnificently, with both teams gaining several first and second positions. Stamford came first in ten of the thirteen individual races and first in all of the relay races. Many congratulations to all our swimmers!

SJS also took their biggest swim team yet – 42 children – to Leicester Grammar on 9th November. This was the first opportunity at an away Gala for the Year 3s, who performed extremely well.

The individual races were extremely close, with just one point in it, but after the relays the score ended up 241 to Leicester Grammar and 236 to Stamford Junior School. It was a narrow loss for the SJS pupils, who did themselves and the school proud.

Swimming Coach John Hunt commented “Once again the pupils showed professionalism and enthusiasm and were a credit to the school.”
