Out of Africa
Children from Years Four to Six at Stamford Junior School enjoyed an ‘Out of Africa’ themed weekend from Friday 25th – Saturday 26th November.
The weekend was attended by over ten staff and thirty-one children, most of whom stayed over on Friday night at St Michael’s boarding house. The children got up to lots of fun activities, including making animals & African patterns out of Hama beads, African cooking (Algerian couscous with chicken broth), making safari animal clay models, a code-breaker treasure hunt around the school grounds, tribal face painting, tribal dances & African drumming and making costumes, shields and African masks.
Claire Hughes, class teacher at SJS, commented “All the children thoroughly enjoyed the activities and had a lot of fun. The children had a busy and exciting time.”
