RAF Cadets Perform Well in Competition
Thirteen CCF cadets from the RAF section took part in a Regional Ground Training competition at the end of last term at RAF Cranwell.
During the competition the cadets had to perform drills, shooting, command tasks, a first aid scenario, aircraft recognition, an RAF knowledge test and a fitness test. The Schools qualified to take part after finishing in the top 16 RAF sections in the East of England following an exam.
The cadets – Elliot Smith, Michael Dinwoodie, Harry Brooks, Andrew Bichan, Jamie Sarjeant, James Leake, Jimmy Zak, Joe Chedd, Thomas Jennings, Freddie Osborn, Izzy Hendriques, Alison Murray and Kim Arnott – performed very well in this intense all-day competition and finished in an impressive tenth place out of the thirty-two RAF CCF units. Special praise goes to Harry Brooks (Y12) for leading the team.
With the competition standard extremely high, the young team did themselves proud and learnt a great deal for next year. The experience will help shape the training programme for the future.
The cadets will be presented with certificates for their achievements and will have some flying experience as a reward.
Well done to everyone involved.
