Girls Selected for Midlands Football Team

Eight girls from Stamford High School have been selected for the Midlands U18 Independent Schools Football Team after a successful trial.

The Midlands trial saw nearly thirty girls from six different schools come together on Sunday 22nd January. The girls were put through their paces with various drills, allowing them to showcase their skills, before finally playing a number of matches against each other.

SHS pupils Maria Davies, Annissa Zak, Emma Couzens, Lauren Rigby (all Year 13), Bethany Carnegie, Abbie Brewin (both Year 12), and Hannah Brewis (Year 11) successfully made the squad, with Genny Peck (Year 12) joining them as a reserve.

The Midlands’ team will be attending the ISFA U18 Regional Representative Tournament, held on the 18th March at Malborough College.

Heidi Myles, Head of Girls’ Games at SHS, said “It is a fantastic achievement to have eight girls from Stamford High School in the squad of eighteen, and we wish them every success at their up and coming tournament in March.”
