Year 1 pupils take a trip to Sacrewell Farm
Year 1 pupils visited Sacrewell Farm on Wednesday where they took part in a range of activities. They have recently been learning the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’, so the day at the farm brought this to life for them. The action-packed day also consolidated their learning across other areas of the curriculum as they were taught about the working mill and the wildlife.
The highlight of the day was a tractor ride around the farm. Half way around, the tractor stopped to show the children a large pond which had just been stocked with rainbow trout. The guide then told the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’, and the children were delighted to see how wheat is turned into flour. The day came to a close with the pupils seeing newly hatched ducklings, before finding their way out of two different mazes.
Gaynor O Mullock, Early Years Leader, said “The children had a lovely day and were a credit to the school.”
