Stamford Endowed Schools Present ‘Our Country’s Good’

Stamford Endowed Schools will be performing ‘Our Country’s Good’ at the Stamford Corn Exchange at 7pm on Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th March 2010.

The play tells of a young marine lieutenant who, in 1789, is directing rehearsals of the first play ever to be staged in Australia.  With only two copies of the text; a cast of convicts, many of them illiterate; the opposition of many of his superior officers; and a leading lady who may be about to be hanged, conditions are hardly ideal for what will be the antipodean premiere of George Farquar's Restoration comedy "The Recruiting Officer."

All three nights of the production will be open to all, with tickets available at a cost of £5 by contacting Maria Chin on 01780 750306 or mchin@ses.lincs.sch.uk.
